Celebrating Excellence in Mosque Architecture

The Abdullatif Al Fozan Award for Mosque Architecture was launched in October 2012 with the aim of creating an international program that raises awareness of contemporary mosque architecture by focusing on best practices in the design, construction and maintenance of mosques. The initial awards were given to mosques in Saudi Arabia built since 1970.

An independent jury assesses the mosques nominated for the award on their architectural structure, use of space, technology, sense of spirituality expressed through architecture, fulfilment of prayer requirements and integration of the building into its local environment. In years to come, the nomination and assessment process will be refined further and the award will be open to existing mosques across the globe.
