His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Province, received today in his office the Chairman of the “Mujassam Watan” (National Sculpture) competition, Abdullah Al-Fozan.
His Highness stressed the importance of enhancing the urban landscape and the beauty of cities by connecting public squares and artistic sculptures to the history and cultural heritage of the Kingdom, in a way that reflects the renewed Saudi identity and strengthens national belonging. He emphasized that creative projects that embody national and historical values contribute to enriching public spaces and are part of the comprehensive development supported by the wise leadership.

Al-Fozan presented to His Highness an overview of the seventh edition of the competition, which witnessed a significant qualitative leap in both participation and artistic outcomes. The submitted works were diverse, and the winning projects stood out for their global character and cultural depth, reflecting the participants’ vision of the Kingdom’s global stature, its rich culture, and its architectural and artistic development. He also presented to His Highness a presentation on the “Unity of the Nation” sculpture, which tells the story of King Abdulaziz — may Allah have mercy on him — and his pivotal role in unifying the Kingdom.

Al-Fozan explained that the competition has become a leading national platform in the fields of art and architecture, contributing to the consolidation of design aesthetics and highlighting the civilizational and artistic dimension of sculptures. This comes within a vision that aims to enhance the aesthetic landscape of Saudi cities and improve quality of life.

For his part, the Operations Director of the “Mujassam Watan” competition, Engineer Mohammed Al-Ghunaimi, stated that the seventh edition — held under the theme “Inspiration Around You” — received wide engagement from designers, architects, and artists. He pointed out that the competition received more than 300 submissions inspired by the local environment and the richness of Saudi nature with its many inspiring aesthetic elements.

He added that the jury selected six winning projects, four of which will be implemented on the Khobar Corniche (waterfront) and two at the Abu Hadriyah entrance, in key locations that will contribute to beautifying the visual scene and enhancing the urban identity of the Eastern Province.

Al-Fozan expressed his gratitude and appreciation to His Highness the Governor of the Eastern Province for his support and interest in cultural and creative initiatives that help highlight the beauty of cities.
