With the approval of UNESCO’s Director-General, Ms. Audrey Azoulay, the Abdullah Al Fozan Foundation for Education announced the launch of the second edition of the UNESCO-Al Fozan International Prize, aimed at attracting distinguished scientists from around the world. The Foundation clarified that the application period will remain open until April 15, 2025, followed by a selection and judging phase, with the winners to be announced at an official ceremony in Paris in 2025.

The winners will be honored for their pioneering research, with the prize providing global recognition of their achievements. This recognition will enhance their standing in the international scientific community, increase opportunities for engagement and interaction with leading scientists and experts in the STEM fields, and help build strong networks with peers from around the world. Winning the prize may also open new doors for job opportunities and fellowships in prestigious institutions.

It is noteworthy that the UNESCO-Al Fozan International Prize was first launched in 2021, and in June 2023, the winners of the inaugural edition were announced at a ceremony held in the Grand Hall at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, attended by many distinguished figures, including Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Tourism and the prize’s founder, Mr. Abdullah bin Abdul Latif Al Fozan.

During the first edition, the prize participated in the International Exhibition and Conference on Education in Riyadh to exchange experiences with many local and international entities. Additionally, the judges engaged with university students at the "Eye on the Future" forum in early 2023, in an open dialogue to encourage scientific thinking, organized in partnership with the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba).

The Foundation also recently published a special book on the prize’s first edition, available in three languages: Arabic, English, and French, in a digital format. Furthermore, it launched a new website, which promises to be a valuable destination for future scientists.
